A CRAZY SIDE-STEP INTO THE COLORFUL WORLD OF INDIA!
While Kim was having a blast working in wardrobe and make-up for Cirque Du Soleil and Blue Man Group in Las Vegas, she started to suffer from over-use injuries months after filling into a full-time craft position in the shoe dept. The physical and emotional stress took it’s toll. After three bouts of Repetitive Strain Injuries, not wanting surgery, she started to research alternative healing modalities, like yoga and meditation. It was then she met her filmmaking husband from India and her life changed.
She always loved physical movement and dance, having studied four forms of Martial Arts, Baton twirling, Tap, Irish Step, Jazz, Bellydance, and Musical Theatre. Absolutely in awe by the colors, costumes and dancing in Bollywood films, she created Fundoo Fitness in 2009 to help others in the similar stressful situations of work, family, social, life… She became a personal coach with Beachbody and a Group X Instructor certified to teach Bombay Jam Bollywood Fitness. She studied with Hemalayaa Behl for a combined Yoga/Indian Dance Certificate as well as Aquatic Yoga from White Crow Yoga. Traveling all over India for six adventures learning about Bollywood, Reiki, Ayurveda, Face Yoga, Classical Indian Dance, Cooking, and Martial Arts was a true blessing and an eye-opening experience to a culture on the other side of the world. She has so much to share.
Leaving Vegas in 2012, moving around quite a bit for her husband’s work caused setbacks in her career as an artist and Fundoo just wasn’t a hit in the Deep South. Her MFA was useless in many places and finding a job difficult having it. As she had experience in Savannah, GA working as a Paranormal Investigator on a historic property, her spirituality took a very literal and unique twist. Reinventing herself was a breeze as jobs were easy to create and come by for her, but the passion to dance, heal and help others was suppressed. The stress built up coming back to L.A. as she realized teaching theatre or working for next to nothing starting in the film industry was the only viable job to succeed with an MFA. So, she started her own Ghost tour company, struggled some more as you really need three PT jobs in L.A. if you want to take time off for film projects. Fed up & maxed out, a divorce in tow, she relocated to AZ in 2017 to recover and be with family. There she got a back-up plan as a Massage Therapist. She regrets letting that Cosmetology license go-HUGE tip to anyone else with a technical degree! You never know where you’re going to be a decade down the road.
She continues her creativity as a Freelance Designer, Ghost Tour Guide, Paranormal Investigator, and healing as an LMT and Reiki Master for people and animals while moving back to her hometown of Duluth, MN in 2022. Bringing it back full circle! Especially, now that films are gaining traction in the Upper Midwest, maybe the timing was DIVINE!
